Around Issyk-Kul lake for 8 days
A long-awaited event in the world of cycling – “Ride Alive” bike ride took place in Issyk-Kul oblast from 5 to 11 June. The bike ride was organized by “Cycling Community of Kyrgyzstan” and Salamat.club. The participants of the bike ride had to cover 460 km around Issyk-Kul lake.
The bike ride was aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle, raising awareness among the local population (about business tourism, first aid, health-related issues and environment) as well as at rendering help to orphanages.
It’s for the 3rd time when a combination of active sport and social events gathers a large group of people. The participants included representatives from different countries – Argentina, Mexico and USA, although the majority of participants were from Kyrgyzstan. The oldest participant was 73. All the participants were amateurs.
The bike ride started in Balykchi town. The first part was held on the north side of the lake, the second – on the south side. The route passed through central streets of villages and towns of Issyk-Kul oblast. On the route, the cyclists visited orphanages located in Ak-Suu and Kadjy-Sai villages. The participants distributed humanitarian aid in the form of TOMS shoes provided by humanitarian organization ADRA Kyrgyzstan. The final destination was Balykchi town. A ring around Issyk-Kul lake (the Pearl of Kyrgyzstan) was conquered for 8 days.
The participants showed to the rest that a bicycle can be used as an environmentally friendly and healthy means of transport.
Such cycling trips, especially joint ones, are an excellent way to get a piece of positive emotions, relieve stress and remain healthy.
The organizers do not intend to rest on their laurels and promise to hold similar events in future.
